Penthouses tend to automatically seem stylish and trendy. They are by default very fashionable. This does not exclude you from adding more style though. You should still be decorating and creating your own unique look inside. Penthouses can be small, so you will want to make rooms look bigger. You want each room to be open. Not only is this comfortable for you, but it is also comfortable and great for gatherings you may want to have with friends and family. Making the most of both your space as well as your lighting can create a very modern appearance for a penthouse.

Minimal Furniture

Too much furniture can clutter the space in any apartment. It can make even the largest spaces feel small. You should always avoid clutter and for a modern look you want to go minimalist. Choose simple, contemporary furniture to contribute to a modern penthouse and do not have excessive furniture. Only have the furniture you need, make sure it all matches and is unified as well.

Color Theme

Not only do you want to keep furniture to a minimum you also want to keep your colors to a minimum. Choose a single color theme with only a few colors and then use that same theme throughout the entire penthouse apartment. Too many colors and very large color palettes will also make spaces feel much smaller. A lot of colors, especially a lot of warm colors, will create rooms that look too busy. Make sure that all of your decor matches and choose cool colors to further contribute to your desired modern look.

Careful Choice of Wallpaper

If you go the wallpaper route for the walls of your penthouse you want to avoid busy patterns. Busy patterns draw the walls inward and like having too many colors it can essentially shrink rooms, including bigger ones. Modern rooms need to look very spacious. Go with plain, simplistic wallpapers. If you want patterned wallpaper remember to stick with your limited color theme and go with very basic, contemporary patterns. Stripes are always a safe choice as long as the colors are appropriate.

Using Natural Light

Along with maximizing your room space in different ways you also want to maximize and make good use of natural light. Use natural light in your rooms as much as you can instead of turning to all artificial light. Many penthouses have really unique architecture and natural light does a lot to highlight these aspects. In addition, adequate light makes rooms look bigger. Do not put up heavy curtains, instead use thinner curtains or sheer ones. Even when they are drawn they will allow light to enter. Simple blinds are another option for privacy but also allowing light to come in.

Mirrors

Incorporate mirrors into your interior decorating. It is important to use them strategically. Position mirrors on the opposite side of the room from windows to make rooms seem larger. They easily create a very airy feel as well as add to the brightness.
